Carpet Extractors

Carpet extractors inject cleaning solution into carpet and upholstery fibres and then extract it with the soil by suction into a recovery tank for deep cleaning in offices and hotels. They differ from industrial vacuums, which suction without injecting solution, and from steam cleaners. Selection is based on solution and recovery tank capacity, cleaning width, availability of solution heating, and format (portable, canister or walk-behind).

About this category

Carpet extractors are cleaning machines dedicated to textile surfaces, carpets and upholstery, operating by injecting cleaning solution from a solution tank into the carpet under defined pressure and extracting the used solution together with soils through a suction nozzle to a recovery tank. Models differ in solution and recovery tank capacity, in cleaning width and penetration depth, and in suction power. Models differ between portable handheld units, canister/trolley units and larger walk-behind machines. Models differ in the availability of an internal heating feature that heats the solution before injection depending on design, but heating does not convert the machine into a steam cleaner: steam cleaners rely on pressurized steam through a different mechanism. Carpet extractors also differ from industrial vacuums that rely on dry or wet suction only without solution injection. A carpet extractor does not imply complete carpet drying immediately after use and does not perform disinfection unless used with a labeled solution. Industrial vacuums and steam cleaners are excluded from this category. Industrial buyers select carpet extractor models based on tank capacity, cleaning width, availability of heating and the target carpet type.
