Interface & Expansion Modules
Interface and Expansion Modules link the control panel to non-addressable devices and other building equipment. They include: input modules (reading contacts and devices), output modules (operating equipment), isolator modules (protecting the loop from shorts), and zone modules (connecting conventional detectors). Essential to build an integrated system.

About this category
Interface modules are the translators that link the addressable system to the world outside it. General design: small modules installed in wall-mount enclosures or inside equipment cabinets, each carrying a unique address and connecting to the main SLC. Types: input modules (reading signals from external contacts such as a sprinkler pressure switch, a heat detector from another system, or an emergency button), output modules (fuel-shutoff valves, elevator recall, HVAC, magnetic doors, server shutdown), combined I/O modules (both in one), isolator modules (isolate a loop segment on a short so the rest keeps working), zone interface modules (convert conventional detectors into addressable loops, letting old buildings integrate with new systems), and voice-alarm interfaces (linking voice-alarm systems). Electrical principle: on the same SLC, each module addressed like any detector. Key advantages: expansion flexibility (adding devices beyond ordinary detectors), integration with other systems, and loop fault protection. Applications: linking the panel to: sprinkler and hydrant pressure switches, kitchen gas-shutoff systems, elevators (recall to ground on fire), HVAC (stop ventilation to prevent smoke spread or run smoke-extract fans), magnetic doors (unlock for evacuation), emergency lighting, and access control. A technical note: isolator modules are essential in large buildings to prevent total loop failure from a local short. Model acceptance documentation varies — review the product documentation and project requirements.
