Multi-Sensor Detectors
Multi-Sensor Detectors combine 2-4 detection technologies in one device: optical smoke, heat, CO, and sometimes flame sensing. They use smart algorithms to fuse the signals, helping reduce false alarms while maintaining fast response to real fires. The latest generation of smart detection technology.

About this category
Multi-sensor detectors solve the false-alarm problem that has long affected detection reliability. The design: a ceiling device holding a suite of sensors: an optical smoke chamber, a thermistor, a CO sensor (an early combustion product), sometimes an IR flame sensor, and a smart processor running signal-fusion algorithms. Principle: a real fire produces smoke + heat + CO; nuisance sources (steam, dust) typically produce only one dominant signal. The algorithm raises the alarm threshold on smoke alone and lowers it on smoke + heat + CO. Types: dual-sensor (smoke + heat or smoke + CO), triple-sensor (smoke + heat + CO), and quad-sensor (plus IR flame). Data transmitted to the panel: each sensor's raw reading, the fused output, and a confidence level. Electrical principle: on the same SLC. Applications: data centers (false alarms there mean expensive clean-agent discharge), premium hotels (false evacuation is costly), hospitals (patient movement is hard), sensitive manufacturing, offshore platforms, and heritage buildings. A substantive difference from single-technology detectors: multi-sensor discriminates better and may reduce false alarms depending on the product and scenario, but usually costs more. An extra advantage: CO detection warns before visible smoke appears (very early warning). A technical note: selection depends on what is being protected — at high-value sites the added cost is justified. Technical acceptance documentation varies by model and sensor mix — review the product documentation before purchase.
