Firestop Penetration Seals
Firestop Penetration Seals are integrated kits of sealing materials designed to close service openings (cables, pipes, ducts) that penetrate fire-rated walls and floors. They differ from standalone sealants by being complete, tested assemblies (collars, wraps, foam, boards) that restore the barrier's original rating against fire and smoke.

About this category
Firestop penetration seals solve a common building challenge: a fire-rated wall loses its value if pierced by a cable or pipe not closed with the right assembly. The design: integrated kits whose components vary by penetration type — fire collars (steel sleeves wrapped with intumescent material that crushes a plastic pipe shut under heat), fire wraps (intumescent strips wrapped around pipes), fire pillows (expanding pouches to fill voids around cable bundles), fire boards (dry boards for large openings), firestop mortar (hard fire grout), and fire-rated putty (moldable sealant for irregular voids). Principle: use intumescent materials that expand under heat to fill the gap, or insulating materials with low thermal conductivity that block heat transfer. Applications: cable-bundle penetrations in data centers, sanitary drains between floors, hot and cold water pipes, telecom conduits, hospital medical-gas pipes, and small HVAC ducts. A substantive difference from standalone fire sealants: firestop seals are integrated kits with install instructions specific to each penetration shape, while sealants are supplied as single materials that are likewise used within tested systems. An important technical note: the whole system is tested together — substrate + materials + install method — so no component can be substituted without verifying the assembly's acceptance documentation. Review the product catalog and project requirements when selecting.
