Safety Goggles
Safety Goggles seal around the eye to protect the eyes against chemical splash and fine dust as rated for the product; they are not a substitute for respiratory protection. They differ fundamentally from safety glasses by surrounding the eye with a rubber or foam flange. Models include direct-vent types for general work and indirect-vent or non-vented types for protection against the specified splash or vapour hazard, as rated for the model.

About this category
Safety goggles perform a fundamentally different role from safety glasses; the sealed fit around the eye limits splash and dust entry from the sides, as rated for the product. Models differ by venting: direct-vent goggles have open ports for airflow and anti-fog, suited to general work in clean environments; indirect-vent goggles have angled ports that block liquid while allowing airflow, suited to moderate chemical work; non-vented goggles are fully sealed for hazardous chemicals and vapors but are more prone to internal fogging. Anti-fog coated lenses are essential for most goggle applications. Selection considers hazard type (chemical, dust, water splash), over-the-glasses (OTG) wearability, material (PVC for acid splash, nylon for general dust), and long-wear comfort. Common uses are chemical laboratories, pharmaceutical plants, paint manufacturing, industrial cleaning, and grinding and sanding in fabrication shops. Specifications follow ANSI Z87.1 D3/D4/D5 (splash, dust, fine particles) and EN 166 by brand.
