Chemical-Resistant Footwear
Chemical-Resistant Footwear is built specifically to resist direct contact with hazardous chemicals, organic solvents, and acids. It differs from general S5 rubber boots because the molded material is tested against defined chemicals (acids, bases, solvents, ammonia). Used in chemical laboratories, factories, and hazardous-materials handling stations.

About this category
Choosing chemical footwear is not just picking an S5 boot; it depends on the chemical-compatibility chart. The boot differs by polymer: nitrile rubber (NBR) is best for oils and light organic solvents; neoprene (CR) handles mild acids and bases; PVC is economical for weak acids and water-based substances; butyl (IIR) is strongest against aggressive organic solvents and ketones; Viton (FKM) is expensive but the top choice for aromatic solvents and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Extreme cases (concentrated acids, hydrogen chloride, solvents such as hexane) need a boot or over-boot in a polymer tested specifically against that chemical per the compatibility chart. EN ISO 20345 does not mandate chemical resistance ratings, so the manufacturer must provide a Breakthrough Time chart for defined chemicals. Models vary in protection layer: fully molded boots (top protection) or a leather boot with chemical-resistant outer cover. Applications: paint and chemical manufacture, acid and alkali preparation, analytical laboratories, chemical-spill cleanup, pharmaceuticals, and hazardous-materials storage. A technical note: chemical footwear differs from ESD and EH footwear; the protections do not overlap. Specifications follow EN ISO 20345 and EN 13832 (footwear protecting against chemicals).
