Safety Boots S1/S1P
S1/S1P Safety Boots are the baseline class for foot protection against impact and falling objects in dry environments. S1 includes a protective toe (200 J impact), energy-absorbing heel zone, and antistatic properties; fuel-oil resistance (FO) is an optional extra test in EN ISO 20345:2022. S1P adds a puncture-resistant midsole plate. They are not designed for moisture — suited to indoor work, dry fabrication shops, and assembly operations.

About this category
The EN ISO 20345 classification starts with SB (basic), then S1, S1P, S2, S3, up to S5, with each level adding features. S1 includes: a steel or composite toe cap with 200 J impact resistance (handles a 20 kg drop from 1 m), an energy-absorbing heel zone (E) and antistatic properties (A); fuel-oil resistance of the outsole (FO) is an optional extra test in EN ISO 20345:2022. S1P adds P (Penetration Resistant) — a midsole plate that stops nails and sharp objects from piercing the sole (rated to 1100 N). The traditional midsole material is steel; modern options are Kevlar or composite for lower weight; non-metallic inserts are tested with a different nail (marked PL or PS under the 2022 edition) and may perform differently against thin nails. Uppers are tanned leather or treated textile but are not water-resistant (that is the role of S2 and S3). Applications: indoor assembly shops, dry warehouses, electronics manufacturing, dry food plants, and maintenance in enclosed environments. A technical note: they are not suitable for outdoor construction with moisture, where S3 is preferred. Specifications follow EN ISO 20345 and ASTM F2413.
