Safety Boots S3
S3 Safety Boots are the most popular class on construction sites, in refineries, and at industrial maintenance sites because they combine every S1P feature (200 J protective toe + 1100 N puncture-resistant midsole + antistatic properties) with a Water Resistant Upper (WRU/WPA); fuel-oil resistance (FO) is an optional test in EN ISO 20345:2022. The outsole is cleated for slip resistance on rough and sloped surfaces. Preferred in most industrial and construction applications.

About this category
S3 is the sweet-spot class for general industrial use because it combines every important feature in one boot: a 200 J protective toe, puncture-resistant midsole (1100 N), oil- and hydrocarbon-resistant outsole, water-resistant upper (WRU), cleated outsole for grip on rough surfaces, energy-absorbing heel, and antistatic properties. The upper is typically tanned leather (nubuck or full-grain) at 1.8-2.2 mm thickness, treated for resistance. The puncture-resistant midsole differs between steel (heavier, partial coverage) and Kevlar composite (lighter, full foot-width coverage). Models vary in boot height: low-cut (below the ankle), mid-cut (above the ankle), and high-cut (mid-shin for extra protection). Applications: construction sites, refineries, oil and gas, outdoor metal fabrication, station maintenance, and road and bridge work. A substantive difference from S1P: S3 adds WRU for moisture resistance, which is preferred in areas with water splash. A substantive difference from S4/S5: S3 has a treated leather or synthetic upper but is not immersion-rated like rubber boots. Specifications follow EN ISO 20345 and ASTM F2413.
