Cold/Winter Protection Gloves

Cold / Winter Protection Gloves shield the hands from low temperatures and loss of sensation during work in cold-storage warehouses, outdoor cold environments, and handling of frozen goods. They differ from ordinary gloves by having an insulating inner layer (wool, thermal foam, Thinsulate) and a wind- and water-resistant outer shell.

About this category

Cold-weather gloves address a very different challenge from ordinary gloves. Heat loss from the hand reduces sensation and slows movement, raising incident risk. The design uses 2-3 layers: a moisture-wicking inner (typically cotton-polyester), an insulating mid-layer (wool, thermal foam, Thinsulate 40-200 gsm), and a wind- and water-resistant outer in nylon with PU coating or treated leather. Deep-freeze models for -40°C warehouses differ from moderate-cold models. EN 511 tests convective cold (0-4), contact cold (0-4), and water penetration (0 or 1). Coating options vary: waterproof latex for wet work in cold storage, oil-resistant nitrile for cold industrial work. Applications: meat, fish, and frozen goods warehousing, winter construction, LNG station maintenance, and low-temperature finishing work. A technical note: cold gloves do not protect against cryogenic materials (-150°C and below) such as liquid nitrogen; those require specialized cryogenic gloves. Specifications follow EN 511 and ANSI/ISEA 105.
