General Purpose Gloves

General Purpose Gloves offer basic hand protection against abrasion, friction, and moderate soil in everyday handling. They differ from specialized gloves (cut-resistant, chemical, heat) by not protecting against specific hazards but by improving grip and comfort. Available in cotton, polyester, or nylon with partial nitrile or latex coating.

About this category

General-purpose gloves have the widest use in hand protection because they meet the needs of jobs without specific hazards. They differ in base liner material and coating. Common liners: nylon 13-18 gauge for high flexibility and tactile feel, polyester for durability, cotton 10 gauge for hot sites to absorb sweat. Palm coating varies substantially: nitrile (the most common) resists oils and greases; latex offers excellent grip but can cause allergy in some workers; polyurethane (PU) is very light for precision work; PVC gives light chemical resistance. Coating pattern ranges from palm only, to palm plus fingers, to full glove (for chemical resistance). An important technical note: general-purpose gloves do not protect against cuts, strong chemicals, heat or electrical hazards unless the product card and test data state such limits — those are the role of specialized gloves. Applications include warehousing, light maintenance, assembly, general construction, carpentry, and landscaping. Specifications follow EN 388 (abrasion, cut, tear, puncture) and EN ISO 21420 (general requirements, superseding EN 420).
