Heat-Resistant Gloves
Heat-Resistant Gloves protect the hands against contact heat, radiant heat, short flame exposure, and molten metal. Protection levels vary by temperature and contact time; gloves are made of aramid fibers (Kevlar), Nomex, treated leather, or composite materials. They serve welding, casting, oven work, and industrial kitchens.

About this category
Heat-resistant gloves differ fundamentally from cut and chemical gloves because heat resistance is measured under EN 407 across six distinct factors: flame resistance (1-4), contact heat (100°C to 500°C), convective heat (1-4), radiant heat (1-4), small molten metal splash (1-4), and large molten metal splash (1-4). No single glove carries every rating. Kevlar (para-aramid) does not melt but chars at high heat; usable limits come from the glove's EN 407 rating — ideal for moderate contact heat. Nomex (meta-aramid) is flame-resistant and self-extinguishing, ideal for welding and casting. Chrome-tanned leather resists heat for short durations. Aluminized gloves reflect radiant heat and serve foundry and glass furnaces. Applications: welding, metal casting, industrial bakery ovens, glass manufacture, furnace and boiler maintenance, and industrial kitchens. An important technical note: welding gloves (thick leather) are a specialized class rated to EN 12477 for sparks and spatter; a glove rated only for contact heat does not replace them. Specifications follow EN 407 and ANSI/ISEA 105.
