Bump Caps

Bump Caps protect the head against collisions with low beams and hard surfaces in environments where there is no falling-object hazard. They differ from industrial safety helmets by being lighter and resembling a baseball cap with an internal plastic protective shell. They are not used on construction sites that require helmets certified to ANSI Z89.1 or EN 397.

About this category

Bump caps are a comfortable choice for workers in environments with low ceilings or hanging pipes and cables, such as warehouses, logistics hubs, equipment-room maintenance, and airport service operations. The cap carries an ABS or HDPE insert 2-4 mm thick built into the outer fabric and provides minor-impact protection only, not protection against falling objects. Styles include short brim or full brim, with multiple colors for section or team identification and vented options for hot-weather work. A fundamental difference from industrial safety helmets: bump caps do not hold ANSI Z89.1 or EN 397 fall-impact approval; they are rated to EN 812 for light bump only. They are therefore not permitted as substitutes on construction sites, refineries, or any environment with falling-object hazards. Selection considers ventilation, washability, and visibility needs (short-brim models for broader vision). Replacement after any significant impact is recommended, even if no external damage is visible.
