Banded Earplugs
Banded Earplugs carry two foam or rubber tips mounted on a flexible plastic band worn under the chin or behind the head. They differ from traditional earplugs by not requiring deep insertion into the ear canal; they seal the outer opening. Ideal for intermittent work where the worker needs to remove and refit the plugs quickly between noise zones.

About this category
Banded earplugs solve the intermittent-exposure problem that workers face when moving continuously between quiet and noisy zones. The design uses two foam or silicone tips on a flexible bendable band worn under the chin, behind the neck, or over the head. When hearing is needed, the worker pulls the tips out with one quick motion — no need to discard or store the plugs. SNR is typically 23-28 dB, lower than deep-insert foam plugs because the seal is at the ear-canal opening rather than inside the canal. Ideal for assembly stations with scattered noise sources, site supervisors who move between multiple zones, and airport staff on the apron. Models offer replaceable tips (every 3-6 months) or fixed ones and come in high-visibility colors for easy identification. Selection considers band comfort over long wear, tip clamping force (which affects comfort), and tip material. Specifications follow EN 352-2 and ANSI S3.19.
