Suspension Trauma Straps
Suspension Trauma Straps are small webbing loops carried folded on the harness and deployed after a fall so the suspended worker can step into them, relieving pressure on the thigh blood vessels. They help a conscious worker relieve suspension pressure (orthostatic intolerance) while awaiting rescue; they are not a rescue system and do not replace prompt rescue.

About this category
Suspension trauma is a serious medical condition that occurs when a worker hangs in a harness for an extended period after a fall: thigh-strap pressure on the blood vessels prevents blood return to the heart, producing a sharp hemodynamic drop that can lead to loss of consciousness and death within 10-30 minutes. The design: a pair of webbing loops folded into two small pouches attached to each side of the harness; after a fall the worker pulls a quick-release and a loop drops that the worker steps into with both feet, standing within it. The result: the body shifts from full suspension to partial standing, and blood flow resumes. Applications: all fall-protection work in construction, installation, tower maintenance, industrial rope access, and long-ladder climbing. Worn permanently on the harness during at-height work. A substantive difference from standard positioning straps: positioning straps are work tools, trauma straps are emergency-only devices. An important technical note: the straps do not replace prompt rescue; a documented, approved rescue plan ensuring prompt rescue per the product guide is still required. Certifications vary by model; check the manufacturer's data for compatibility with the harness.
