Compressors
Air Compressors generate the compressed air needed to run pneumatic tools, industrial control systems, and spray-painting. The category includes portable compressors, fixed reciprocating compressors, rotary screw compressors, oil-free compressors, and air treatment equipment (dryers, filters). Selection follows required CFM flow, operating pressure, and air-quality class.

About this category
The compressor is the heart of a facility's compressed-air system; the wrong choice means tools starve for flow. Portable compressors with 6-50 L tanks and 2-10 CFM flow suit small auto shops and on-site maintenance. Fixed reciprocating compressors use pistons to compress air within cylinders, deliver high pressure (10-15 bar), but produce high vibration and noise and suit intermittent use. Rotary screw compressors use two helical rotors to compress air continuously, deliver higher flow (20-500+ CFM) typically with lower noise and longer service life in continuous duty, and serve large shops and factories with continuous demand. Oil-free compressors introduce no lubricating oil into the compression chamber, reducing the risk of oil contamination (air filtration may still be required by application), and serve medical, food, and electronics applications where contamination is a concern. Air treatment equipment includes refrigerant dryers (pressure dew point around +3°C) and desiccant dryers (down to -40°C or lower, per model and test method) and particulate and oil filters, producing air per ISO 8573 Class 1-4 by application. Design considers total tool flow demand, operating pressure, required air class, and duty cycle. Specifications follow ISO 8573.
