Jib Cranes

Jib Cranes are structural lifting systems in which a horizontal boom extends from a floor column or wall mount and rotates about a vertical axis to cover a defined work area, such as loading stations. The load itself is lifted by a separate chain or wire rope hoist mounted on the jib, which may be supplied separately; choose by boom length and rotation range, documented rated capacity, and mounting and rotation type (manual or powered).

About this category

Jib cranes are lifting systems made up of a horizontal boom (the jib) extending from a mounting base (a floor column, wall mount or building-column mount); the boom rotates about a vertical axis within a defined range to cover a working area. A separate hoist (chain or wire rope) is attached to the jib to lift the load, and the hoist may travel horizontally along the jib on a trolley in some designs. Models differ in boom length and in documented rotation range (a defined angle that should not be assumed across the category), and in mounting between floor-column, wall-mount and building-column installations. Documented rated capacity varies between models according to boom design, length and mounting base. Models differ in rotation mechanism between manual and powered rotation depending on design. A clear distinction must be maintained between the jib and the hoist: the jib is the structural system that provides the working area, while the hoist is the device that lifts the load. Inclusion of a hoist with every jib crane model should not be assumed, and compatibility between a hoist and the jib's mounting base varies by design. Hoists of all types (chain and rope), material lifts and scissor lifts are excluded from this category. Industrial buyers select models based on boom length, rotation range, capacity and mounting type.
