Arc Flash PPE Kits

Arc Flash PPE Kits are ready-made sets rated to a specific arc energy level that combine, in one pack, the suit or jacket and trousers, a hood with an arc-rated face shield, gloves and a storage bag. They suit panel and substation maintenance teams that need a complete, consistently rated kit for each technician. They differ from stand-alone arc flash suits under Protective Clothing in being supplied as an integrated, matched kit, with each piece's rating stated per its own approval.

About this category

Arc Flash PPE Kits are integrated supply solutions that bundle the protective pieces needed for a specific arc energy level, instead of buying each piece separately and matching their ratings. A kit typically includes an arc-rated suit or long coat with trousers or coverall, a hood with an arc-rated face shield and, on some models, a ventilation unit, arc-rated gloves or leather protectors worn over insulating gloves, and a storage bag that protects the pieces from damage and contamination. Kits vary by NFPA 70E PPE category (Cat 2 to Cat 4) or the documented ATPV/EBT of each piece, by available sizes, and by whether a hard hat is included or the hood fits a separate Class E helmet. Selection factors: the incident energy calculated in the facility arc-flash study, matching ratings across all pieces, sizes and number of technicians, and comfort in hot environments. Technical note: the kit does not protect against direct electric shock, so ASTM D120 insulating gloves with leather protectors are still required. The arc rating of the garments, hood and face shield is stated for each per its own approval; the storage bag and accessories carry no arc rating, and the kit-level rating concept is confirmed with the supplier's documentation. Stand-alone suits (under Protective Clothing) and separate face shields and helmets are excluded from this category. Specifications follow NFPA 70E, ASTM F1959, IEC 61482 and ASTM F2178 for face shields.
