Grounding Rods
Grounding Rods are permanent conductive elements driven into the soil to connect the earthing system to earth in electrical installations, telecom and power facilities, and lightning-protection systems. Unlike clamps and bonding wires, they are the fixed, buried part of the system; choose by material (copper, copper-clad or galvanised steel), diameter and length, and corrosion-resistant surface treatment suited to site soil conditions.

About this category
This class serves to provide permanent conductive rods to connect the earthing system to the soil. Design details vary by model: rod material (copper, copper-clad steel, galvanized steel), diameter, length, head design for connection, and surface treatment for corrosion resistance. Technical distinction: grounding rods are permanent elements within the earthing system; they differ from earth testers, which are used to measure system performance rather than to form it, and are not grouped with them as system components. Technical note: the rod is a component within the overall earthing arrangement and works with grounding conductors and clamps; its performance may be measured by specialized instruments, but it does not replace the grounding system design or its resistance calculation. The rod's electrical performance characteristics vary by material, diameter, installation method, and soil characteristics. Uses: permanent electrical installations, industrial facilities, communications facilities, lightning-protection systems, and power facilities. Procurement considerations: models may be compared on material, diameter, length, surface treatment, connection-head design, and site suitability. Model specifications and documentation are reviewed before selection.
