Pathway Lighting
Pathway Lighting is specialized emergency illumination for the evacuation path at floor level during power loss or fire. Installed low on both sides of the corridor to stay visible below the upper smoke layer. Used especially in long corridors, stairs, and extended evacuation paths in theaters and large buildings.

About this category
Pathway lighting solves a specific problem: in real fires, smoke collects in the upper half of corridors while the lower half stays relatively clear, so low-level illumination matters more. The design: low-power LED fixtures (typically 1-5 W), installed 15-30 cm above the floor on both corridor sides at regular spacing (every 1-3 m), each with an internal battery or powered from the central battery system. Types: floor-level light lines (continuous illuminated strips, used in aviation and trains), low-level wall lights, photoluminescent strips (no power required; they absorb ambient light and emit it when lighting fails), and LED pathway markers (arrows for evacuation direction). General install guidance: continuous coverage along evacuation routes, clear markers at stairs, turning points, and exit doors. Precise coverage and spacing follow the local building code and project specification. Applications: theaters and cinemas, aircraft (aisles between seats), trains and metro, large multi-corridor hotels, hospitals, passenger ships, industrial facilities with long aisles, and underground parking. A difference from overhead lamps: pathway lights sit below the smoke layer and remain visible in heavy smoke; overhead can be obscured. An extra advantage: far lower power consumption (longer run time), and visual integration with interior design. A technical note: clear path illumination helps guide evacuation and maintain orientation when the right product is chosen.
