Chemical Protection Coveralls
Chemical Protection Coveralls shield the whole body against chemical splash, vapor, and solid particulates in laboratories, cleanup operations, and emergency response. Each type has its own standard: Type 1 (gas-tight, EN 943), Types 3 and 4 (liquid jet or spray, EN 14605), Type 5 (particles, EN ISO 13982-1) and Type 6 (light spray, EN 13034). Materials (polyethylene, Tyvek, neoprene) vary with the chemical and exposure level.

About this category
Choosing a chemical coverall depends on three factors: exposure type (gas, liquid, particulate), concentration, and duration. The European classification: Type 1 gas-tight under EN 943-1:2015 (including pressurized ensembles for chemical emergency sites; Type 2 is a legacy class withdrawn in the 2015 edition), Type 3 liquid-tight at high pressure (refinery hose work), Type 4 liquid-tight at low spray pressure, Type 5 solid particulates (chemical dust, asbestos), and Type 6 light spray. Common materials: Tyvek (flash-spun high-density polyethylene) for particulates and light spray, SMS or microporous-film laminates for higher liquid resistance, laminated neoprene for high chemical resistance in Type 3 and 4 suits. Design includes an integrated hood, taped seams on Type 3/4 suits, double-flap covered zippers, and elasticated cuffs and ankles. Applications: asbestos abatement (Type 5), chemical-spill cleanup, paint and solvent manufacture, pharmaceutical plants, chemical emergency teams, and light radioactive material handling. A technical note: Type 5/6 suits need separate respirators and gloves; the suit alone does not provide respiratory protection. Specifications follow EN 943-1 (Type 1), EN 14605 (Type 3/4), EN ISO 13982-1 (Type 5), and EN 13034 (Type 6).
