Rainwear & Waterproof Clothing
Rainwear & Waterproof clothing protects workers against rain, spray, sea spray, and moisture in outdoor environments. It differs from chemical coveralls by being designed for water only and by being more flexible for body movement. Available in: economy PVC (general work), polyurethane (flexible and lighter), and Gore-Tex (breathable and waterproof).

About this category
Rainwear faces a basic trade-off between water resistance and breathability. Materials differ: molded PVC at 0.25-0.35 mm is fully waterproof but non-breathable, so interior sweat accumulates. Polyurethane (PU) coating over nylon or polyester is lighter and more flexible with similar water resistance. Gore-Tex or EVent with microporous membranes let vapor out while blocking water droplets, ideal for long outdoor work. Design includes a brimmed hood, sealed cuff and ankle closures, taped zipper, and covered pockets. Models: rain coats, two-piece rain suits, and integrated rain overalls. Colors vary: fluorescent yellow for high visibility in bad weather, black for industrial maintenance, fluorescent orange for marine work for easier detection. Applications: rain construction, farming, maritime fishing, sailors, outdoor substation technicians (rainwear provides no electrical insulation; FR or arc-rated models are required where that hazard exists), and sewer and drainage work. A technical note: rainwear does not protect against chemicals or heat; those are the role of specialized suits. Specifications follow EN 343 (water resistance and breathability).
