Mobile Anchors
Mobile Anchors are self-standing structures that need no permanent fixing to the building. They work with a deadweight counter-mass or a tripod design to create an anchor on flat surfaces. Suitable for work where surface penetration or permanent anchors are not possible, such as insulated building roofs or parking decks.

About this category
Mobile anchors solve an important architectural challenge: many modern roofs have waterproof insulation membranes that cannot be penetrated to install fixed anchors. The design: a steel frame with a wide base and a central D-ring attachment point, together with a counterweight (typically 150-500 kg of concrete blocks) that resists fall loads. Types: flat deadweight anchors that rely on weight alone, tripod anchors (tripods over confined-space entry openings are covered under Tripods & Davits), and multi-point mobile systems for larger roofs. An important technical note: a mobile anchor works by friction with the surface and counterweight resistance; it may slide on a sloped or inclined surface, so a flat surface with less than 5-degree slope is required. Applications: modern roofs with waterproof insulation, hotel and hospital roofs, concrete parking decks, and temporary inspection platforms. A substantive difference from permanent anchors: mobile anchors do not penetrate the surface but are heavy and need transport equipment; permanent anchors are fixed but do penetrate. Specifications follow ANSI Z359.18 Type D and EN 795 Type E. Pre-use visual inspection to confirm sufficient counterweight and intact frame is mandatory.
