Anchors & Connectors

Anchor points are the structural foundation that carries the entire fall-protection system; no other component performs its role without a trusted anchor. The category includes permanent anchors built into the structure, temporary anchors, beam anchors, concrete anchors, mobile anchors, and carabiners and connectors. Strength requirements for each anchor or system follow the applicable standard and the approved system plan (e.g. 22.2 kN per worker for non-engineered anchors under OSHA).

About this category

A structural element is only a valid anchor after it is verified to hold fall-arrest loads, either through engineering design by a qualified person or by meeting the minimum strength in the applicable standard. Permanent anchors are mounted in concrete or steel by bolt or weld and serve facilities with recurring maintenance such as factory and warehouse roofs. Temporary anchors are quick to install and remove and are used for defined projects. Beam anchors clamp mechanically to horizontal or vertical steel beams without invasive work and include sliding and fixed variants. Concrete anchors come in cast-in and post-installed drilled styles. Mobile anchors such as deadweight anchors are designed for flat roofs and require no penetration of the structure. Carabiners and connectors link the system components and must be self-closing with double-locking action. Anchor selection considers maximum load per person, horizontal versus vertical rating, weather exposure (indoor or outdoor), and the annual recertification cycle. Specifications follow ANSI Z359.18 and EN 795.
