Rescue Harnesses

Rescue Harnesses are built specifically to lift a worker vertically from inside confined spaces or during rescue at height. They carry upper shoulder D-rings that let the body be hoisted vertically during an incident. They differ from ordinary fall-arrest harnesses by directing lifting forces from above rather than arresting falls from the back.

About this category

In confined-space and at-height rescue, a worker needs to be lifted vertically to pass through narrow openings. The design: two reinforced shoulder straps with upper D-rings near the shoulders attach the rescue line and lift the body from above. The chest and waist straps are heavy-duty to carry vertical lifting forces without compressing the torso. Design follows EN 1497 (rescue harnesses), used within rescue systems under ANSI Z359.4, per the model approval. An important technical note: rescue harnesses are not positioning or arrest harnesses; they are specialized for retrieval. The worker wears a rescue harness together with fall-arrest attachments (dorsal and/or sternal D-ring) during the entry, with the shoulder points used only in emergencies. They work with rescue tripods or portable winches in emergency operations. Applications: refinery tank entries, confined-space inspection work, industrial rescue teams, tower rescue, and deep-well maintenance. Pre-use inspection and vertical-lifting technique training are mandatory.
