Harnesses
Harnesses are the interface between the worker and the fall-protection system. The category spans general-purpose full-body harnesses, positioning and work harnesses, rescue harnesses, confined-space harnesses, and climbing harnesses. Each design differs in D-ring placement, padding level, and the way impact loads are distributed across the body during a fall arrest.

About this category
A harness does more than keep the worker attached; it distributes fall-arrest forces safely across the thighs, chest, and shoulders. Full-body harnesses carry a dorsal D-ring as the primary fall-arrest attachment and may include side D-rings for positioning or a sternal D-ring for ascent and work. Positioning and work harnesses pair with positioning lanyards so the worker can lean back on structural steel or towers and work hands-free. Rescue harnesses add upper shoulder D-rings for vertical lifting during extraction from confined spaces. Confined-space harnesses combine shoulder D-rings with streamlined construction for fast donning and tight entries. Climbing harnesses are lighter and built for repeated ascent-descent with frontal attachment points. Harness selection considers worker weight with tools (maximum capacity varies by model and standard, commonly up to about 140 kg, with higher-capacity models available), work type (positioning, ascent, rescue), and padding for long-wear comfort. Specifications follow ANSI Z359.11 and EN 361. Pre-use inspection is mandatory, and any harness subjected to a fall must be removed from service.
