Personal SRLs are lightweight alternatives to traditional shock-absorbing lanyards, worn directly on the harness D-ring with a 1.8-3 m working range. Weight is typically under 2 kg, allowing long work shifts without added fatigue. They typically reduce free-fall distance when anchored overhead — ideal in spaces with limited clearance below the worker.

Personal SRLs shift fall protection from a fixed-length lanyard to an auto-retracting line. The principle: an internal drum pays out or retracts the line with worker movement and locks when line pay-out speed exceeds a model-specific threshold. The compact 1-2 kg unit mounts on the dorsal D-ring with a 1.8-3 m line. Benefits: typically shorter free fall than a traditional shock-absorbing lanyard, reducing the required clearance, which is calculated from the model's manual and installation conditions — suited to sites where clearance below the worker is insufficient. Applications: overhead motor and transformer maintenance, installation work under low ceilings, repeated ascent-descent on short ladders, truck and vehicle maintenance, and inspection work.
