Fork Jib Booms

Fork jib booms mount on a forklift's forks or carriage and turn it into an extended boom with one or more lifting points from which loads hang on hooks or shackles. Unlike forks and clamps that support or grip the load, a jib boom suspends it, shifting the load centre so system capacity comes from the combined forklift/attachment rating. Selection is based on documented rated capacity, boom length, number of lifting points and mounting compatibility.

About this category

Fork jib booms are forklift attachments that convert the fork system into an extended-boom system with one or more lifting points from which loads can be suspended. These booms mount to the forks or carriage per the design, and models vary in attachment interface and retention configuration according to product design. Models differ in boom length, number of lifting points, their distribution along the boom, lifting-point type (hooks, rings, shackles) and whether positions are fixed or adjustable. Attachment rated capacity varies between models and is defined in the manufacturer's documentation. The attachment's rated capacity must be distinguished from the actual operating capacity of the complete system once mounted on the forklift: load center shifts when the boom is used, and system capacity must be established from the documented forklift/attachment configuration rather than from the attachment rating alone. A fork jib boom is not itself a hoist or a crane, and the system is not used to lift personnel unless the product, forklift and configuration are specifically designed and rated for that purpose in the manufacturer's documentation, which is not generalized at category level. Cranes, lifting hoists and scissor lifts are excluded from this category. Industrial buyers select fork jib boom models based on the documented attachment rated capacity, boom length and mounting compatibility with the target forklift.
