Forklift Attachments
Forklift Attachments extend the forklift's role beyond pallet handling into non-standard loads. The category includes standard and replacement forks, fork extensions for longer pallets, jib booms for overhead lifting, drum-handling attachments, and forklift clamps. Selection follows load type, the parent forklift's capacity, and mounting compatibility.

About this category
Forklift attachments change the truck's function substantially. Standard forks come in 1-2.4 m lengths with 1-10 tonne capacity by model and are replaced when worn. Fork extensions slide over the original forks to extend their length for longer pallets, reducing the overall rated capacity. Jib booms mount on the forks and give the truck an extended boom with multiple hook positions for lifting loads from an upper point using slings or a hook. Drum-handling attachments include drum clamps that grip the drum horizontally and rotate it, and drum lifters that lift 1-4 drums at once. Forklift clamps handle irregular loads such as bales, compressed cardboard, and large cartons without pallets. Attachments differ in mounting: some slide over the forks (fork-mounted), others need a dedicated carriage (carriage-mounted). All attachments reduce the truck's rated capacity because of added weight and shifted center of gravity; the derated capacity must be computed. Pre-use inspection is required; periodic inspection and certification follow the site system, local requirements and the manufacturer's instructions. Specifications follow ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 and ISO 2328.
