Earth/Ground Testers

Earth/Ground Testers measure the resistance of an earthing system to verify its performance at industrial plants, telecom and power facilities, and on lightning-protection installations. Unlike insulation testers, which measure equipment insulation resistance, they assess the current path to earth; choose by supported methods (three-pole, four-pole or clamp-on), resistance measurement range, and included measurement stakes and leads.

About this category

This class serves to measure earthing-system resistance. Design details vary by model: measurement method (three-pole, four-pole, clamp measurement), resistance measurement range, voltage measurement range, control system, display, power system, and safety rating documented in product documentation. Technical note: the earth tester is a measurement tool within the electrical-safety arrangement and works with safe-work practices and hazard assessment; it does not replace the earthing system itself or its design. Technical distinction: supported measurement methods vary by model, and a uniform method is not assumed across the category. Uses: earthing-system testing at industrial facilities, communications facilities, power facilities, temporary earthing for maintenance work, and lightning-protection site testing. Procurement considerations: models may be compared on supported measurement methods, resistance range, accessory system (measurement poles), safety rating, and application suitability. Model specifications are reviewed before selection.
