Retrieval Devices
Retrieval Devices are specialized systems that pull a worker out of a confined space during emergencies, mounted on some models alongside the entry winch. They differ from standard entry winches by being functionally dedicated to retrieval, with a response speed designed for emergencies. Essential within the emergency-response structure of confined-space entry programs.

About this category
Retrieval devices address a critical challenge: pulling the worker out quickly during an emergency. The design: a manual or electric pulling system, a durable cable or rope, an attachment point to the worker's harness, backup braking systems, load indicators, and quick-engage handles. Types by design: self-retracting retrieval devices (self-reeling units that keep appropriate tension), mechanical retrieval winches (dedicated mechanical pullers), electric retrievers (for high-use sites), and lightweight portable units (for mobile worksites). Uses: confined-space entry systems, emergency-response teams, onshore and offshore oil platforms, sewage sites, large chemical manufacturing facilities, and refining sites. Operating notes: installing the retrieval device alongside the entry winch (not as a substitute), periodic inspection, training response teams in quick activation, and compatibility with confined-space harnesses. A substantive difference from entry winches: retrieval devices are built for emergency use with higher response speed, while entry winches serve the normal entry phase. Model specifications, load capacity, activation mechanism, and compatibility with existing infrastructure are reviewed in the product documentation before fit-out.
